Putting away for another day

The new storage area that was added this fall

We’ve been busy here cleaning up outside and getting things put under cover for the winter months to come. The greenhouses are empty and most of the beds have their vegetation removed and piled onto the compost pile to add their nutrients to next’s years organic matter. We still have several beds of greens growing with frost protection blankets covering them hoping to find buyers at our winter market as we transition from summer to winter. Pastured chicken production is done and cows are settled in to the barn for their winter slumber. The new storage area that was added this fall is just about complete with festival stage and dance floor pieces under cover. I soon will be traveling to Wisconsin for the first of a few agricultural  conferences switching my brain from “what needs to be done” to “what new can I learn”.

Take some time to put up what food items you can for storage of nutrients that will feed your mind as well as your body. I love sitting down in the winter months to a meal totally prepared from products off the farm. Keep an eye out for our weekly special so that you too can eat what’s available from the farm to your table. My garden is what gives me hope for the future.
