Year End Musings

The week between Christmas and New Years seems to be that transition period from the previous year and the new one about to unfold.

For us, it’s time to start thinking of what needs to be done for the farm, the garden and the festival season.

The mailman has delivered all the seed catalogs, so I like to flip through them to see what’s new for the garden. I’m in the middle of revamping the greenhouse putting compost into it, pull the cover off and then sow peas and oats for a cover crop.

The cattle will be in their holding area for the winter. Warmer weather tends to be a bit sloppy which presents its own challenges with bedding and feeding.

I hope you all are also thinking of what is new to come for you in the New Year and what things you can do to make it a more successful and fulfilling year.

Stay safe out there and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
