I love spring because of all the things I’ve been thinking that need to get done when spring comes are actually getting done. Seeds got ordered, received and into the schedule, plastic back onto the greenhouse after a winter to cleanse the soil and plans have been made to pick up 23 yearling cattle from a ranch in Angelica, NY next week. There’s nothing better than crossing jobs off the list after completion.
Spring is slow in coming this year which is good for the tree fruits. There is nothing more disappointing than a late frost that kills all the blossoms. Julie has had time to prune our little orchard since spring has slowed down a bit.
We are excited about our Solar Eclipse party that is in full swing for next week. So far, the weather is looking good for the event. Clear sky’s makes for perfect viewing. We will be having music, food trucks, a yoga session, drumming with Jim Donovan and camping at the Heron. Of course everyone who comes gets free viewing glasses.
Come on out to the Fredonia Winter Farmers Market on Saturday. I will be away, but William will be there with all our goodies. This week we will be offering 20% off our chicken broth bags and beef bone broth bags. It’s fun to put a pot on the stove and let it simmer for a couple of days, filling the house with it’s rich aroma and letting the slow cook draw all the goodness out of the bones for your better health.
That’s what’s happening on the farm this week.
