Outdoors • Firelit • Dress Warm
Join us at The Heron for a Sunset Winter Solstice Ecstatic Dance, a gathering to honor the longest night of the year and welcome the official start of winter. Across many cultures, the Solstice has long been celebrated with rituals to honor the sun, give thanks, and kindle its return. Fires, dancing, and gathering in community have always been at the heart of it.
We’re celebrating the Winter Solstice at the Café in the Woods, where we’ll gather around the fire, sip warm cacao, ground into gratitude, and move together as the sun sets and the longest night of the year arrives.
A small altar will hold our intentions and offerings as we settle in. Then we’ll dance from sunset into darkness guided by firelight, connection, and music that moves the body and spirit with a DJ Set by Jimmy Wilson… Afterward, we’ll share a small potluck to close the evening in warmth and community.
Hot water and teas will be available throughout.
Donation-Based Event
Suggested: $10–$20 to support the venue (No one turned away for lack of funds)
What to Bring:
• Your own mug + bowl/fork/spoon for cacao and soup/potluck
• A dish to share (Vegetarian Soup will be provided)
• Warm layers for dancing outdoors (this event is completely outdoors, come prepared for the cold!)
• Bring your own camping chair if you want a cozy spot to sit and settle in.
• Pack in, pack out. Let’s keep the woods happy — please take everything you bring with you.
LOVING REMINDERS:
• Be ready for a little adventure.
If we get snow, we will need to hike from HQ/Visitor Parking to the Café in the Woods. The roads won’t be plowed, so plan for a snowy stroll. Call Isa @ 646-248-4989 with any questions.
• It’s an outdoor gathering.
We’ll have a small fire going, but please come bundled up and ready for winter temps. Bring whatever you need to stay cozy keeping in mind that that you will be hiking there and back with your belongings.
• This event is weather dependent.
We’d love to call in light snow on the ground and calm skies for Solstice magic… but if we get heavy wind or a storm or the temps drop too low, we may need to postpone. We will be updating the Facebook group with the weather conditions as we get closer to the event. https://www.facebook.com/share/1DToEQbJDu/
Looking forward to gathering with you all!
