This year’s project before the cows go into the barn for the winter was to shore up the barn. With a bedded pack system, the pack builds up as the winter goes on. What happens then is everywhere the posts are exposed to the bedded manure/hay pack, they will start to decay. The biology that is breaking down the bedded pack also is working on all the posts. The result is rotted support posts. What I doing is using sauna tubes and putting them around the pits and cementing them above the pack level. Now there will be secure building posts and no decay. I did 9 repairs today. They are the bright new material. The cows should be home in another day. I need to jet the cement set.
