Last of the Winter Harvest

I’ve been busy the last couple of days trying to harvest the last of the veggies in the garden before the winter season forbids me from doing so. I picked the last of the tomatoes and will get the last of the peppers today. There are four rows of beets that need to be harvested in the garden yet today but I’m challenged with frozen hands getting the last of those in.

I’m hoping the 4” of snow cover will keep them from freezing too bad. I rely on these crops for sales through the winter season because they are great storage crops. Of course the snow caught me off guard because the equipment hasn’t made it into the winter storage areas but I’m pretty sure no matter when winter hit I still wouldn’t have been ready. Looking forward to seed catalog season so I can start dreaming of the next year’s growing season and hopes for a great summer. Enjoy the changing season and don’t wait till the last minute to put everything away in storage.
